Make a Faux Button Brooch in only 5 MINUTES!

Sometimes you need that perfect touch to finish off a project.  That was my problem when I finished my Winter Rays Scarf.  My OTHER problem was that the temperature was below zero and there was NO WAY I was going out to look for a brooch at a craft store.

So it was time to get creative!  And I honestly don't know why I hadn't thought of this before!

Here is the quick tutorial:

Step 1: Thread yarn through the button holes twice.  Tie the yarn in the back to secure it and trim off excess.

Step 2: Wrap the top half of your alligator clip with yarn and tie to secure it.  Be sure to cover all of the teeth on the clip to prevent snagging.  Trim off excess.

Step 3: Apply hot glue to the yarn on the back of the button and attach the yarn wrapped end of the alligator clip.  Hold tightly until set.  Do not try to glue two smooth surfaces together-the yarn is essential for proper adhesion!

Step 4: Use it!  Add it as a functional clip for a scarf, or as an afterthought embellishment on a hat. Everything is cuter with a button!
