Inspiration can come from a lot of different places, and it was you, my awesome readers, who inspired this project! When I first released my Crochet Water Balloon pattern, several of you mentioned that you thought they would be cute party favors. I thought that was an AWESOME idea. And because I really like to "multi-purpose" things-I thought it would be even cooler if they could double as part of the party decor as well!
Now I wish I could say that I had an actual party to set up for, but really this was just the perfect excuse to go and buy some cupcakes :) I really do like to bake, but in the interest of prioritizing my time I went the quick route instead. If you are looking for an awesome, homemade cupcake recipe this is one of my favorites over at Paula's Plate. I am shamelessly promoting one of my best friends in the world right now :) She is a food blogger, and her recipes are awesome!
The beauty of using these balloons as a summer party favor is that after the kids get all hyped up on sugar, you can send them outside with these and use them as water balloons (see details here). Also, by making them with the Bernat Blanket Brights Variegated yarn, you still get those awesome bright colors that you need for a party, but no one will be fighting over which color they get :)
The following is the list of supplies I used to make this display:
- Bernat Blanket Brights in 'Sweet and Sour Variegated' and my FREE Crochet Water Balloon pattern
- Wilton 13 count Cupcake Stand
- Metal Chopsticks (to hold balloons up)
- Curling ribbon
- Sparkly pipe cleaner
- and of course...CUPCAKES!
Now of course this is just one way you could decorate with them. I'm sure there are tons of different ways you could multipurpose them (would they fit inside a piñata?!). As always, I'd love to hear your ideas! Comment with them below, share them on my Facebook page, or tag me in them on Instagram with @leftinknots!
