Snow Drops Mod Scarf fans, this pattern is for you! This new free pattern has been over a year in the making, and for some reason or another it only just got designed. I have no good excuses, I even had the Caron Cakes yarn I needed waiting for me in my stash! But I am so pleased with how it turned out that it was worth the wait. Today I am sharing the Snow Drops Slouch Hat pattern with you, along with a brand new right and left handed video to help you get started with the star stitch. Keep reading for the free crochet pattern!
The Snow Drops Slouch Hat was designed to match one of my first and definitely my most popular mod scarf pattern, the Snow Drops Mod Scarf. This hat will take less than one cake of Caron Cakes yarn, but you can also easily substitute your favorite worsted weight yarn for this pattern! Save your leftovers though...you can also make these matching Snow Drops Mittens with what you have left ;)
You can adorn your hat with a pom pom as I have pictured, or if you are going for an even trendier look - a faux fur pom pom would look amazing on this one! And the Snow Drops Mod Scarf pictured above can be accented with tassels or pom poms as well.

The chain stitches at the beginning of each round do not count as a stitch.
The last stitch of each round is attached to the first stitch of the round with a slip stitch.
This pattern is written to fit an average adult. Find this free crochet pattern in sizes for baby, toddler and child here.
Row 1: SC in the second ch from the hook and SC across (12). Turn
Row 2-61: ch 1, working in BLO, SC across (12). Turn.
When you finish the ribbed band, fold it so that Row 1 and 61 are on top of one another. Working through the back loop of Row 61 and the front loop of Row 1, seam the two rows together by slip stitching across. Do not cut your yarn. Continue on to work in rounds along the “raw” edge of ribbed band.
(remember the last stitch of each round is attached to the first stitch of the round with a slip stitch)
Round 1: ch 1, SC around the top of the band working one stitch per row (61).
Round 2: ch 1, HDC around (61)
Round 3: ch 2, make the first star stitch of the round and continue with star stitches around. When you reach the end of the round, HDC in the last st of the round (this will have already been worked into by the previous star stitch) (30 stars + 1 HDC).
Round 4: ch 1, work 2 SC into each "eye" of the star stitches from the previous round and SC in the last HDC st from the previous round. (61)
Round 5: ch 1, HDC around (61)
Round 6-14: repeat Rounds 3-5 three more times.
Round 15: ch 2, make the first star stitch of the round and continue with star stitches around. When you reach the end of the round, HDC in the last st of the round (this will have already been worked into by the previous star stitch) (30 stars + 1 HDC).
Round 16: ch 1, work 2 SC into each "eye" of the star stitches from the previous round. DO NOT SC in the last HDC st from the previous round. (60)
Round 17: ch 1, HDC2Tog around (30)
Round 18: ch 1, HDC2Tog around (15)
Tie off leaving a long (approx. 12”) tail of yarn. Using a yarn needle, weave the yarn back and forth through the stitches of Round 18. Pull tight to cinch the top of the hat closed. Make and attach a pom pom if desired. Weave in all ends
